Taking forever......

Today I put the first lot of boarders on my Summer Harmony quilt but it feels like it is taking forever to finish.  Each boarder has taken just over an hour to complete. However, I am still very happy with the results so far. I am trying to be very disiplined by finishing this quilt before starting any other projects but the list of things I want to make keeps growing. ;)

Tooooo much cream.......

DH asked me to bake him a cake, anything except lemon drizzle so I decided to do a strawberry cream sponge cake. I think I got a bit carried away with the cream filling. Whoops!  Is it any wonder we are both fat he can cook and I can bake, leathal combination. ;)

Quilts, cake and freindship....

Dots medallion quilt designed by Janet.
On Friday I went to Gresford crafts and quilts exhibition, as always it was such a lovely day out despite the rain. I was in the delightful company of Janet, Gwen, Sue and Shirley, we had a lovely lunch, with scrummy homemade cakes and there was lots and lots of laughter. Dot's medallion quilt was the first quilt to greet us and it certainly has the wow factor.

Oh dear! the wrong shade of red.........

Four block from the last eight.

All the above pics sent to Janet.

One down three more to go yippee.
Today I completed four of the remaining eight blocks for Summer Harmony. As I began the remaining four blocks I realised the other red fabric I intended to use was to dark and not the right tone of red. Oh no what to do? I layed all the pieces of the quilt on the floor and took stock. I wondered if I could introduce some green but I really needed a experts opinion and who better than the designer of the quilt, my wonderful friend Janet. I e-mailed Janet the pictures I have posted, then I telephoned her and we discussed the problem. Janet felt that the green would work and I would still have a nice balance with the colours of the blocks.  Phew crisis over and away I went and made a green block.  When I count my blessings I always count Janets friendship twice because friends such as her are extremely rare.

Thank you all I was truly touched. A big thank you also goes to my family for coming and my beautiful daughter took me and DH for a well done Mum meal, such a lovely gesture from her. I also met some lovely people and I got lots of positive comments about my exhibition. I had a fab night. I will not get my final result for another two weeks but I will let you all know soon as. xxx

Busy week...

These dresses are stitched over the paper image but I have left bits of the paper behind to add a bit of colour.

Edwardian Lingerie also stitched from paper images.
Water colour image of an Edwardian dress.
Water colour Edwardian style dress.

Its been all go this week, getting ready for the exhibition on Monday evening. Dotting all the i's and crossing the T's for my final mayor project. The deadline is three o'clock Monday then it is down pencils and walk away and it is in the hands of the markers.  Over the weekend I had to write my final evaluation of the project and on reflection I don't think I have done enough drawing/mark making?  I shut myself in the sewing room and played with some images of Edwardian Fashion, water colours and stitch. These are what I came up with.

Four middle blocks.....

I am at the half way point, I completed one of these blocks yesterday before going to see the family and the remainder three today. There is 16 blocks in total that go around the outer edge of the quilt. I now have to make the remaining eight which are all one design. I have really had to concentrate when making these block and slow my pace of sewing right down because of all the points, I think it is really paying off.

Four Corners....

These are my four corner blocks for Summer Harmony quilt. I managed to do two last night and two this morning. Their looking good even if I say so myself. I am so enjoying making this quilt and so far all the fabric has come from my stash, I have only had to fork out for some thread and the wadding.  I am hoping that my next quilt will also be a stash buster but that will have to keep until i have completed Summer Harmony.

Quilting as you go...

I am very much up to date with my college work and I have enjoyed my week off.  I manged to create lots of sewing time and I used this to continue with my Summer Harmony quilt. After completing the four applique corners yesterday, today I was ready to attach them to the central panel. This has been done using the quilt as you go method. I adore quilt as you go because you have manageable pieces of work that fit neatly under your machine. Tonight I am going to start the next stage of the quilt.

Time for a change....

I thought it was time to change my profile picture, so today my lovely daughter came and blow dryed my hair and did my makeup. Then my DH took several photos these are the two that we all liked.

Summer Harmony

I have had a very productive day I decided to have a much needed sewing day and I got stuck into my Summer Harmony quilt. This quilt was designed by my good friend Janet. Please nip over to her blog Lemon Tree Quilts to the original version which is almost complete. This quilt is a quilt as you go and its a lovely design. I started the quilt quite a few months ago but college work has kept me far to busy to continue it. However today I have managed to complete the applique on the central panel and complete two corner panels. I think its coming along slowly but nicely.
