A squash book...

I spent hours yesterday trying to write an essay on how Wedgwood changed manufacturing in the 18th century. I have found the research bit very interesting but I am not very good at writing essays and it causes me a great deal of stress. Today I felt the need to distress and have a craft moment.  I decided to make a Squashy after seeing Sue Sercombe's work last week. Her Squashy was amazing all made with embroidered samples absolutely stunning. I began by watching a few Utube videos on how to construct the squashy, then I gathered what I had to hand and here is what I came up with. It was quick and fun to make and I have been inspired to make more but this time I will be adding pockets and maybe even a Christmas on for a friend. For those who have asked for the UTube I watched here it is: Sorry could work out how to do a link.:)

Having googled ' a squashy' - I came up with your blog Susan! Yes please, a link.
Know what you mean about essays - I was asked to write 2000 words on 'Surreal Art',panicked (I don't like SA) and put it to one side until by chance, I went to a Surreal Things exhibition at the V&A. Fell in love and the essay came easy. In fact I have since given a talk to the local History Society on the subject.Moral of the story - find an aspect of the subject that you are interested in and write about that!
