My Effigy Doll. |
A couple of pages from my sketchbook showing ideas for constructing my effigy. |
I thought I would share my first completed project for Uni. The brief was to make an effigy of yourself and it was a little scary because I had to stop and think about what I felt makes me who I am. After lots of mind mapping, chatting to friends and family I came up with my doll. Obviously she is not a true likeness she is merely a representation of the things that I love and are important in my life. My family, my friends, my love of all things crafty, my high heal shoes and my art. Unfortunately I did not take a picture of her rucksack which contains a miniature paint box, a tiny sketchbook, pencils and the tiniest camera and real of film you have ever seen, which my wonderful daughter bought as a surprise, especially for my effigies bag. My next project is MOLA!

I took one look and said to myself "but where are her high heels?" LOL
This is just wonderful, she has a very elegant pose.
How exciting to have the opportunity to take your art in different directions, your head must be buzzing with it all!
Oh Kath the thing is she has bright pink high heals on I took this photo the week before the project ended and added the shoes later. I will have to take a up to date photo but she is living in my draw at uni at the min till the project is marked. xx
How small are the needles that your doll is knitting with? Great imagination!
Wow, thats so interesting Susan. I hope you got my letter. I sent it a couple of weeks ago and post has been very slow.
Hi Caz they are about three inchers long. I made them from a very old pair of plastic knitting needles. thank you for the compliment. xx

Love your work Susan - the detail in your doll is amazing, I especially love the knitting! and your sketchbook pages are lovely.
hi Fiona, I have to confess I love shoes. I had to buy a barbie style doll to get a pair but alas I couldn't find any red so had to make do with bright pink. :)
Hi Lin, Thank you for the lovely compliment. :)
